Cycling!
You may want to organise a local cycle
ride or perhaps do the London to Brighton annual ride. We
have even had a supporter cycle
around the world for us! For the more adventurous, why
not go cycling in Vietnam or Cuba?

“At 10am on April 26th, eight volunteers
set off on a sponsored fifty mile bike ride from South Coulsdon
to Brighton. Leading the pack was hyper fit organiser Josie
Pearson, who had carefully planned a route that took in
gorgeous green scenery with sweet smelling bluebells, frolicking
lambs, singing birds and all the other country things the
London based cyclists had long forgotten about.
The countryside wasn’t quite enough to
distract the team from the punishing hill climbs at one
mile an hour, but the 30 mile per hour descents on the other
side made it all seem worthwhile, especially for novice
cyclists Amanda – who had only bought her first bike
a few weeks before the event. The group made easy work of
Ditchling Beacon, a gradient renowned for putting most cyclists
off exercise for life. This was probably due to the fact
they knew there was an ice cream van at the top!
Having ascended the biggest hill in the South
East, there was only one way to go – down, and towards
the sea. After a few emergency on-route repairs, the entire
group arrived at Brighton Aquarium just after 3.30pm and
celebrated with fish and chips and a big cold drink. £2,000
was raised thanks to the group’s efforts and there’s
already been talk of a similar event next year.
Big thanks for organisation, first aid
and support from Mark Herbert and Ingrid Petri.
