Walk
for Life
Every year we join Crusaid’s ‘Walk
for Life’, a 10 km walk around London passing some
of the great sights of the city. It is a great day out and
a chance to meet fellow supporters as well as raise sponsorship
for CWAC. For further information, please contact peter@cwac.org.
A Supporter who did the Walk For Life wrote:
“3500 people turned out for the Annual
Walk for Life, a 10km trek from South Bank through the heart
of London to the Honourable Artillery Company Grounds in
Moorgate, to finish with a party that included live music
and a fun fair.
CWAC’s 14 strong team of intrepid walkers
were there, armed with one thermos between them and blister
cream. We walked through packed streets, drank a lot of
tea and burned many calories.
As the picturesque sights of London passed by
and we appreciated the majesty of the spiralling metropolis
around us, we were all extremely proud of the amount of
support behind this important event. The organisers did
not anticipate the sheer number of people from all over
the country who would attend.
This shows a growing nationwide support structure
of people willing to help those living with HIV/AIDS. On
the day, £305,000 was raised with more pledged money
trickling in. The money will be distributed amongst Crusaid’s
core services, with a small percentage coming to CWAC, as
part of their charity team scheme.
A huge thank you to all at Crusaid and
a heartfelt well done to all 3,500 people who took part,
blisters and all! Special mention goes to our won dedicated
CWAC team who managed to raise over £1000!”
